Apple iDesk

Adam Benton’s iDesk concept looks like it’s fallen right out of an official Apple design portfolio. Its ability to sync any iOS device by placing it on its touch sensitive surface (which doubles as a trackpad) would be reason enough to drool, but coupled with its sleek looks, the iDesk makes us powerless to resist. Take all our money. Take it now.

The Nethrone classic workstation

Samsung SUR40 – Microsoft Surface 2.0

Unlike the iDesk concept, this 40in Sammy-made second generation Microsoft Surface table is real (assuming you can afford its exorbitant pricetag). With the ability to recognise more than 50 simultaneous touchpoints and interact with objects placed upon it, the Surface will make your iPad cower in a corner and feel neglected.

Samsung SUR40 – Microsoft Surface 2.0, I wonder how much power these things draw. The first versions of the surface had multiple cameras to track touch, projectors etc. It worries me when you see companies deploy these things how much extra power they all pull, especially these days where we are encouraged to use less power.

As a continuation of my previous thinking perhaps Microsoft could invest some of their billions into developing thorium reactors to offset the power draw of machines running their OS. Just a thought. They can afford it after all they contemplated putting something like 44 billion down for yahoo, cleaner energy is a much better long term proposition.

I should have followed the link, 300W max power draw. Not insignificant when considering it is additional to whatever other computing device would be out there.
