Lenovo reveals detachable quad-core IdeaTab K2

Lenovo is gunning for Asus with a Tegra 3-powered K2 slate and transforming S2 tablet.

Asus may have been first to market with the quad-core Transformer Prime, but Lenovo is snapping at its heels. The Chinese manufacturer has just taken the wraps off its new range of IdeaTab tablets, including the quad-core K2 and the dockable S2 (pictured).

The K2 sports the Tegra 3 processor and will come packing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1200x800 px display along with HDMI and USB connectivity. It will be available with 1GB or 2GB of RAM, with up to 64GB storage.

Initially available only in China, Lenovo will "consider" launching the K2 globally later in 2012.

Lenovo is also releasing a range of S2 tablets, though only the 10in model will be available outside China.

The S2-10 will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and features a Qualcommm Snapdragon 8960 1.7GHz dual-core CPU along with a 1280x800 px display. Like its quad-core cousin, the S2 will feature USB connectivity and up to 64GB of storage.

Just like Asus' Transformer Prime, the IdeaTab S2 can be plugged into a keyboard dock adding a touchpad, keyboard (obviously) and two USB ports alongside a multi-card reader and a battery – adding eleven hours to the S2's touted nine-hour battery life.
