Asus launching swivel-screen Windows 8 ultrabook

Asus launching swivel-screen Windows 8 ultrabook

Transforming Ivy Bridge tablet will launch alongside touchscreen Windows OS.

Asus is planning to launch an ultrabook with a swivel screen that'll transform into a tablet, running Windows 8. The new Ivy Bridge notebook will launch alongside Microsoft's new OS in September 2012, according to Digitimes.

The as-yet-unnamed ultrabook's swivel-screen design, seen above in Asus' Eee PC T101MT, looks set to give users the best of both worlds, combining Windows 8's new touchscreen tablet experience with the traditional Windows desktop interface.

So, will you be going with Asus' Android-toting Eee Pad Transformer Prime or this as-yet-unnamed Windows 8 model for your transforming slate?

ASUS yet again taking a concept in search of a market.

Products that try to span 2 totally different markets typically flop.

Personally don't see it taking off, however stranger things have happened.

I'm writing this with an Acer TM C300. It's 15" screen also turns 120 deg's & lays back across the key board backwards & locks in. It's over 5 years old so the concept is not new. With the specs of this machine it would of been an High end of the market machine like the Panasonic Tough Books.
But I would rather have the best of both worlds & I would not like Android running the machine. So you could throw win 8 away & put win 7 on it or even Linux.
The fella I bought this off sold it for a song as faulty. I used Linux just to test the screen to see if it was still a touch screen & good old Linux rose to the occasion & the screen worked fine under 10.04 Linux. Can't wait to see Linux in the market in a couple of years with their versions of Tablet & ph Os's.
Saying that bada is based on the Linux open source kernel. But that Bada is a long term Samsung Baby.

regards Dan
