Dell calls it quits on Streak 7

Dell appears to have called time on its Streak 7, marking another withdrawal from the tablet market.

Dell had already brought down the curtain on its Streak 5 device, as the company appeared to cut short its experiments aimed at finding the optimum tablet size.

Now eagle-eyed bloggers at Streak Smart have spotted a web notice posted by Dell that says the “Streak 7 is no longer available online, but you can browse our other mobile devices for similar products".

Although the 7in tablet is still available from Dell's site, the company confirmed it was phasing it out and referred to it in the past tense in a statement.

“Dell remains committed to the mobility market and continues to sell products here and in other parts of the world,” the company said.

“Streak 7 delivered a unique experience for customers who wanted a larger screen size yet the freedom of staying connected to their personal and professional content while on the go."

Dell said the tablet continued to be available in some markets and pointed to 10in tablets available in China and the 10in Latitude ST as proof of its commitment to non-PC devices.

“We remain committed to expanding our reach beyond PCs with a targeted set of open, standards-based mobility solutions and services designed for commercial and mobile professional customers,” Dell said.
