Belkin's ScreenCast AV 4 lets you stream Full HD movies, video games and 3D Blu-ray wirelessly

Connect up to four AV devices to your HDTV wirelessly with Belkin's new adapter range.

Belkin has announced a new range of wireless AV-to-HDTV adapters which are capable of streaming 1080p movies, video games and 3D Blu-rays to your TV screen from a distance of up to 30 metres.

Compatible with most HDMI-enabled devices (including Blu-ray players, video game consoles and laptops), the flagship ScreenCast AV 4 is essentially a clutter-control solution that lets you keep your devices out of sight.

It can also be used to stream content to other TVs around the house (a Blu-ray player in your living roon can stream movies to a TV in your bedroom, for example).

So far, so DLNA, but the advantages of the ScreenCast AV 4 seem numerous. For starters, you appparantly don't need a DLNA-certified television to make it work and it allows you to stream 3D movies and HD video games. At the launch event, Belkin's Australian marketing manager Brendan Sparks boasted that the device is suitable for competitive online gamers, with no noticeable lag.

So how does it work? The ScreenLink 4 comprises two units: the receiver and the transmitter (pictured above). The receiver hooks up to your TV via HDMI and picks up the wireless stream from the transmitter, which sends the digital signal from a connected HDMI device.

The Belkin ScreenCast range uses a proprietary wireless signal operating in the 5GHz spectrum, which eliminates interference from other wireless sources. The data it sends is uncompressed and looked very impressive in the Blu-ray demo we were shown.

The device comes bundled with an IR Blaster which lets you use infrared remote controls and game controllers by pointing them at the TV. In other words, your various remotes will still work, even if the matching device is kept in a different room.

The ScreenCast A V4 is due to hit stores some time in December with a rather hefty RRP of $300. Keep your eyes peeled for a review, coming soon.
