Along with inbuilt Blu-ray, one of the boasting points of the PlayStation 3 is its 3D games. This is something that Xbox 360 owners have had to do without - until now.
A new Xbox 360 firmware update tipped to drop in the next few days will bring stereoscopic 3D support to selected titles. This will finally put the Xbox 360 on an even playing field with the PS3, which has enjoyed 3D support since mid-2010.
Halo Anniversary: coming to gamers in 3D soon.
One of the games confirmed for the 3D treatment is Halo Anniversary; a high-definition remake of 2001's Halo: Combat Evolved.
"For the first time, fans will be able to experience the original “Halo” campaign in a whole new dimension as they step onto the legendary ring world in stereoscopic 3D," Microsoft explained on an official blog. "Using a custom made top-and-bottom 3D technology, 3D-TV owning fans will be able to experience the amazingly remastered “Halo: Anniversary” in a more immersive experience than ever before." Other games set for a 3D makeover include Gears of War 3 and Batman Arkham City.
The new update will naturally require a HD 3D TV set.
