Livescribe challenger: introducing the Wacom Inkling smart pen

Wacom has moved away from its faithful tablet-pen gear in favour of more minimalist kit. The Inkling comprises of a pressure sensitive pen and small receiver unit to record anything you draw on a real page – much like the Livescribe pen – although this has 1,024 levels of sensitivity and can record separate layers.

Transfer the data to your PC or Mac and you can play about with it using Sketch Manager, which is thrown in as part of the US$199 kit. Expect to get yours in September. For a demo take a look at the video below:
