Red Bull to launch its own mobile virtual network in Australia

New mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) to be powered by popular energy drink.

In one of the more unusual tech partnerships we've seen in a while, Red Bull Australia is teaming up with Vodafone to launch its own mobile virtual network. (Yes, the same Red Bull that makes the energy drink. )

“The launch of Red Bull MOBILE in Australia provides us with an exciting opportunity to further connect with our loyal fans and consumers and introduce our media products in the Australian media and mobile market,” explains Jason Sargent, Managing Director at Red Bull Australia.

“Red Bull MOBILE is fully integrated into Red Bull’s marketing and communication mix, offering our consumers a unique experience that no other brand can offer.”

This reportedly includes Red Bull branded handsets, competitive tariffs, 'multimedia services' and unlimited access to Red Bull TV and the World of Red Bull, as well as exclusive offers and discounts to Red Bull events, such as the upcoming Red Bull X-Fighters.

“Vodafone is excited to be working with Red Bull, which is gearing up to be a very interesting and innovative new player,” said David Harrison, General Manager, Wholesale and Vendor Management at Vodafone Australia.

Meanwhile, customer service support will be handled by Aggregato; a third-party supplier of MVNO services.

Red Bull MOBILE will be available on Vodafone's 3G network later this year. We'll keep you posted with more details as we get them. In the meantime, here's a video of Red Bull stunt planes doing their thing. Just because.
