µTorrent 3.0 introduces support for streaming, allowing users to preview and start watching or listening to media downloads before they’re completed. Also new is a feature giving users remote access to their torrents through any web browser, allowing them to start, pause and stop downloads even when away from their computer.
µTorrent also introduces support for adding ratings and comments to torrents, allowing users to rate files for security and quality. Other new features include drag-and-drop file sharing for large files, a simplified user interface option and a new portable build option, allowing the software to run directly from USB drive.
Drag-and-drop file sharing allows users to quickly drag files from their desktop into µTorrent, which generates a web link that can be shared via email or social networks to allow others access to large files without having to upload them first. The streamlined user interface option basically allows users to hide unwanted parts of the user interface with a single click, while the option for a creating a standalone, portable build of µTorrent is included with the program installer.
In addition to these new features, µTorrent 3.0 also features a number of under-the-hood improvements, notably improved Web seeding to make finding the original source of a single-source file quicker and more reliable.
µTorrent 3.0 is available now as a freeware download for PCs running Windows 2000 or later.
