When it comes to seeing and playing with cutting edge hardware, the big one is PMA Australia. In previous years the event has drawn thousands to see new cameras, see workshops and for industry types, attend conference sessions.
You'll find big players at the event like Canon, Nikon and Panasonic, as well a World Photo "Adventure Zone" and photo awards. It's not all for the public, but the trade show is open to all from June 25-26 from 10am to 5pm at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre and it's possible to get in free - members of the public are advised to visit photo dealer or the PMA web site for a pass. For those really immersed in the world of photography, retailers and pros can buy a ticket for access to some quite specific sessions you won't find at big consumer events like CES - such as "the acid free myth", "preservation mounting techniques" and "master certified picture framer exam".
