Clock ticking on online TV bargains, literally

With Kogan Liveprice the quicker you put in your online TV order, the cheaper you get the TV. The only catch is you might have to wait before you see your TV.

Being first to buy the latest technology can often mean paying through the nose - which is why it's unusual to see a site like Kogan Liveprice that makes paying early cheaper.

The Kogan site, which sells everything from TVs to Blu-Ray players, GPS devices and eBook readers, has flicked the switch on its Liveprice system, which lets you place an order for your new TV before its been manufactured. Ruslan Kogan argues the system cuts out "the hidden cost of finance built into price tags of all goods."

The earlier you place an order, the cheaper you get the product. On the Kogan web site, prices of products being sold using the Liveprice system increase over time - this list shows the price of a 42in LED TV ticking upwards slowly.

Other products currently available under Kogan's Liveprice scheme:
- Deluxe Wi-Fi DAB+ Digital Internet Radio with iPhone Dock
- Ultra-Zoom Touchscreen Full HD Video Camera - 1080p Recording
- Multi-Cyclonic Bagless Vacuum Cleaner with 'No Suction Loss' Technology
- 6" eBook Readerwith E-ink screen
