Sony PS3 joins military

Designed to withstand the wilds of Afghanistan and quite possible an airstrike, this self contained PS3 console is built to withstand battle conditions

Attention! Meet the Sergeant PeliStation from  R.O.G.U.E (Rugged Outdoor Gaming Units Etc) - a PS3 integrated into a military grade tough-as-a-tank suitcase shell; suitable for playing a little COD Modern Warfare in the midst of actual modern warfare.

Designed to withstand the wilds of Afghanistan and quite possible an airstrike - the 'nails Monster Power surge protector shields the innards - this self contained console sports all the functionality and ports of civvy PS3 - HDMI and network outputs, USB inputs for controllers - plus a sizeable built-in 22-inch 1080p HD screen, a charging station for rejuicing those controllers and storage compartment for games and cables.

The PeliStation will be available in Spring 2011, in three colours - black, green and yellow, from R.O.G.U.E., although final pricing has yet to be announced.

Unfortunately the Afghan people were not built to withstand the constant bombing by a combination of unmanned Remote controlled planes etc, as a result lots of innocent people are dying ,this product does nothing to stop that occurring so it's a useless p.o.c.

Struth jo, one minute your a rabid anti Microsoft rabble rousers, next thing your a pacifist Nazi and the pixelated warriors saviour.

Come to think of it, given your predilection for the apple, I can see why you'd be upset with the gaming crowed.

I think this is what you really crave:

climb on up there and enjoy.

I could use a good laugh.;)

pretty sure the last thing a soldier would want to do at the end of a day of combat is play MW2 and get medals for jumping on nades or getting 2 headshots with 1 bullet

It's safe to say some that are leaving remarks have never spent extended periods away from home and in an isolated enviroment.
Because of a handicap I have I can't serve but having spent several years working on ships where our hitch's ranged from 1 to 3 months out at sea I can tell you the soldiers will be glad to have acess to the PS3's.
There are more than just battle games for the PS3. Can you say Madden, NBA, The Show, etc. Not only will these PS3's be an escape from their everyday activities, it will be like a piece of home over there for them. And that alone is worth it!
Please everyone try and imagine what our soldiers are sacraficing to keep us safe in our warm cozy houses.
