Paypal to Wikileaks: "denied!"

Paypal joins a number of other online payment services refusing to process donations for Wikileaks

Paypal has permanently restricted Wikileaks account, preventing any donations from being made to the not-for-profit media organisation at the centre of a 250,000-strong US government document leak.

In an official statement on Saturday morning, Paypal restricted all activities on Wikileaks account, citing "a violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity"

Paypal is not the only major company to have restricted Wikileaks, WL Central also cites Amazon, Tableau and

This represents a concerted attack on our freedom of speech. What we need now is first, to get someone to tell the truth about reason for the denial of service by PayPal, Amazon etc and, second, for us to tell these companies that we won't tolerate their participation in this campaign to silence WikiLeaks

I guess there is no way to use paypal to pay to news media outlets. You can't say that the information their informants provide for a story is always legal. We must shut down all those news organisations that dare to publish anything but gossip pieces.

The future seems poorer everyday.
