Rival Optus tackles Telstra's T-touch Tab in the tablet stakes

In a followup to its Samsung Galaxy Tab launch and pricing today, Optus has also announced plans for a cheap tablet. At $279, the Optus My Tab pips Telstra T-Touch Tab's pricing by $20.

The Optus My Tab is made by ZTE, and the 400g 7in tablet will run Android 2.1. It includes a 3MP camera, 2GB MicroSD card (upgradeable) and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Optus My Tab will include 3GB of pre-paid data on purchase - the same as the Telstra T-touch Tab.

Pricing for Post-Paid and Pre-Paid plans won't be available until closer to the launch date, which will be in Mid-December.

We still haven't had a chance for a hands-on with the Telstra T-Touch Tab, but we'll post a review once we get one, and compare it to the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Hi Zara, I purchased the Telstra T-Touch Tab today, after finding out about it on the weekend. I think it's a great device for the price. It won't suit everyone, but want a cheap 7" Android tablet, it's right on the money.
