While Sony, Samsung and LG are all offering a variety of bonuses with 3D TVs this year, Panasonic appears to have scored a coup: Avatar on 3D Blu-Ray. The offer applies to customers buying a 3D Panasonic TV between November 1 and December 31, and includes the 3D Avatar Blu-Ray disc, a 3D Blu-Ray home theatre system, a "bonus" pair of medium sized 3D eyewear to a total value of $1,348. It's not the only impressive bonus offer on the market. Sony's offer includes a bonus PS3 and a bunch of 3D games, Samsung's deal includes a second 22in TV and LG has something different with its 3D TV promotion - a 3D camera. But with the 3D version of Avatar only for people buying Panasonic 3D TVs (we've put in a request asking when the movie will go on general sale), we're willing to bet it will add some instant appeal for the brand this holiday season. Pansonic also says that customers who bought their 3D TV before November 1 are also eligible to receive a copy of Avatar on 3D Blu-Ray. Meanwhile, a new Avatar Extended Collector's Edition goes on sale November 24. Interestingly, owners of the first Avatar Blu-Ray disc will be able to watch some of the same special extras contained on the Extended Edition, by using the BD-Live feature on compatible Blu-Ray players. This extra material includes deleted scenes and documentary excerpts. We were impressed with the huge amounts of special features shoveled onto the upcoming Alien Anthology. Something to consider if you haven't made the leap to Blu-Ray and delving deep into special features is your thing.
