We asked those in the queue about pricing plans, whether they're buying the phone outright and other issues. See what they had to say in our video

Big Apple product launches are always curious events - not least for Apple's ability to drew crowds of people willing to lineup in uncomfortable conditions for hours on end, even endure occasional abuse from bewildered passers-by.

We attended last night 's Optus launch "party", where there were at least 400 queuing till midnight. Telstra claims "hundreds" were lined up down George Street for their midnight store opening, while there were several hundred who showed up for Vodafone's launch.

We were also at the Apple store on George Street in Sydney this morning, where there was also a large crowd, the majority to purchase the phone outright.

We asked those in the queue about pricing, plans, whether they're buying the phone outright, and other issue. See what they had to say in the video above.

"For christ's sake these people need to get a life. Sure the iphone is a great bit of kit, but these shallow individuals have a problem. It seems like Apple is almost like a new religion for these ..."

Was that a shameless plug for Apple...or Optus? And there were no questions or comments about the antenna. Could it be that it really is a non-issue?

Does this prove that Apple fans are mindless automotons!? What sort of idiot would queue for hours to get a phone which doesn't work properly!?
This sort of rubbish hardly encourages a company to do things better - quite the opposite I'd imagine. Stay tuned for news on the release of the Apple iPhone 5 which will just be a house brick with a screen drawn on it retailing for $2000. I still expect record crowds of very stupid people.
(all this and I own an iPhone 3GS - note that I didn't queue for it or buy the first release!!)

A collective IQ in the cue of perhaps 4?

Kind of scary. So many of them in their prime breeding years.
Talk about marching morons.

I to fear for the species Nathan.

C'mon guys! It's new, shiny and made by Apple! What else do you want out of life?

For christ's sake these people need to get a life. Sure the iphone is a great bit of kit, but these shallow individuals have a problem. It seems like Apple is almost like a new religion for these people, how sad. I hope they all got their hi-tech rubber boots to fix their new shiny and flawed phone. I think I'll stick to my 3GS, at least it works properly.
