When one looks back at the history of computing it is often shocking how far we have come in a relatively small amount of time. Toshiba has been celebrating 25 years of laptop computing and the party has rolled around to Australia.
Toshiba kicked off the celebrations with a whimsical look back at some of the models it has released over the years. This took the form of a fashion show, a nod to the company's sponsorship of Australian Fashion week. Models in retro outfits showed off some of the iconic products released by Toshiba and as you can see from our video, the end result was at times hilarious.
This was followed with a flood of information about new products. The company launched 36 new laptops as well as televisions, accessories and HD camcorders. These were on display alongside a range of laptops from throughout the last 25 years.
Toshiba also took the opportunity to announce that the company has signed up as sponsor for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. It is the only technology company to sponsor the event and it will be supplying a range of products to the Tournament, including TVs, laptops and printers.
