The company unveiled the Droid X smartphone at an event with US carrier Verizon, who will be offering the device on 15 July.The Droid X will sport a 4.3 inch touchscreen display and offer both DLNA and HDMI connection ports. The handset will sport an 8 megapixel camera capable of recording 720P video.The handset will be powered by a 1ghz CPU and will offer 8GB of built-in strorage space along with a MicroSD storage slot.For software, Motorola said that the Droid X would support the Android 2.2 operating system and Adobe Flash 10.1, though both are not expected to arrive until later this summer."We are breaking down barriers so that you can experience the web the way it was meant to be and create, share and view content like never before, either in your hand or in your home," said Motorola mobile devices chief executive Sanjay Jha."Enterprise users will also find Droid X appealing with features including push e-mail and live widgets for e-mail and calendar updates."Information on international availability was not given.The July release could set the Droid X up for a summer showdown with Apple's iPhone 4. The handset is set to arrive at retailers in the US later this week, though Apple has said that the white iPhone models as well as new pre-orders may not be available until July.
