Microsoft extends Christmas cheer to Australian families: Windows 7 family pack still on

While US families may be disappointed that Microsoft has discontinued the Windows 7 Family Pack discount, Australian families can rest assured that the penny is still in the pudding, so to speak

Over the last 24 hours, Microsoft delivered a resounding bah humbug to American families, declaring the family pack trial sold out.

The family upgrade pack that sprung up beneath the cracks of a global recession and offered Windows 7 upgrade joy at a fraction of the regular price was up and ended in the US,  lasting a little under two weeks.

However, Microsoft has confirmed to PC Authority that the Windows 7 Family Pack is still on. So break out the two dollar Christmas crackers and get ready to put on those silly little paper hats - Microsoft aren't going all scrooge on Australia after all.

The Microsoft Family Pack entitles families to three licences of Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. Customers will have a choice between 32-bit or 64-bit versions and all for $249 or $83 a licence.

For more information on the deal, you can read our earlier report or visit the official Microsoft Windows 7 Australia blog.
