Apple keeps Atom support in Snow Leopard... for now

A new build of Apple's Now Leopard OS has retained its Atom support – but will this be the case in the final version?

It seems any of you out there running Snow Leopard on your netbook can breathe easy for now – Apple is not shutting you out... not just yet at least.

We heard earlier this week that Apple was attempting to stop "Hackintosh" users running its Snow Leopard OS on cheap netbooks by blocking Atom processor support in an update.

However, a newer build of version 10.6.2 still has Atom support, meaning that netbook Snow Leopards can stay on the prowl for now.

This could all change when Apple releases the final version of OS X 10.6.2 though, so we'll have to wait and see what happens then.

We'll keep you updated – let us know below if you're running a netbook on Snow Leopard.
