Google releases Chrome 4.0 beta

by Rosalie Marshall  on Nov 4, 2009
Google has published a beta release of Chrome 4.0 that will allow users to keep their bookmarks in sync and up-to-date across multiple computers..

The update will remove the need for users to manually copy bookmarks every time they use a different computer, according to Google.

"Once you've activated Google Chrome bookmark sync on each of your computers, any changes you make to your bookmarks will appear on all synced computers in just a few seconds," said the web giant in a blog post.

The new beta will also come with speed improvements, Google said, and 30 per cent better performance than the current Chrome 3.0.

Chrome 3.0 was released in September offering 25 per cent improved performance on the previous release, HTML5 capabilities and a redesigned New Tab Page.

Browser market share figures from Net Applications released this week show that Chrome is the fourth most widely used browser in the world with 3.6 per cent of the market.
