Yahoo last week launched a free service that lets people upload photos directly from their camera-equipped phones to the portal's photo sharing site.
The new feature in Yahoo Photos is free to any Yahoo registered user, and can be used to upload photos directly from camera phones used by subscribers to AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
Users must enter their phone's make and model, and their service provider. Yahoo then provides a personalised email address to its Photos site for uploading pictures.
Yahoo also made changes to its US$2.99 per month premium service -- dubbed Mobile Photos -- that lets AT&T Wireless and Sprint customers download pictures stored on Yahoo Photos to their camera phones.
Although Yahoo once put a storage limit on its Photos site, it removed that restriction late last year; users can upload and store an unlimited number of pictures on the portal.
