Google's bundle of social networking joy, Google Wave, will be with a lucky 100,000 users by the end of September
Google is planning to release Google Wave, its ambitious new IM/Email/Wiki hybrid in September. Invites for 100,000 users will be made available on September 30 via wave.google.com.

It's likely that Google Wave will launch with a limited invitation system similar to the one Gmail started out with way back when.

A variety of Google Wave widgets are already emerging on the developer forums from frivolous ones like a RickRoll widget to practical stuff like weather forecasts.

 Personally I am baffled by it, not that I am saying it is a bad thing at all. Email and the ways that we collaborate on the internet have been long in need of an overhaul.

The thing that scares me most is how much Google is getting their hands into everything. But if they do a decent job of it I guess I can't complain.

Not looking forward to the whole invites system again though. It makes waiting that much more painful LOL.
