Microsoft "big announcement" coming Monday

Google may well have announced its OS today, but it seems Microsoft has an announcement of its own coming on Monday

While the big news of the day may well have been Google's announcement of its Chrome OS, it seems Microsoft is waiting to make a big announcement of its own next week.

Ex-Microsoft employee and tech head Robert Scoble, has used his Friendfeed account to question Google's motives for announcing its OS when it did.

"Why did Google announce Chrome OS this week?" his post read. "Well, of course, Microsoft has a big announcement coming on Monday (I'm embargoed)".

Intriguing. The Microsoft World Wide Partner Conference starts in New Orleans on Monday, so this certainly seems feasible, if not probable.

However, what it could be remains more of a mystery. Suggestions have included the new Gazelle web browser, which touts a self-contained OS for web apps, or Office Web.

We'll be poised on Monday to get all the latest to you as it happens. Let us know what you think Microsoft could be announcing below.

Personally I think that it might be a step up in the date for Windows 7, if they are already going RTM so soon perhaps they have decided to release early.

why "quotes"?
Apple is over rated, last conference the ONLY innovation was the price tag.
Nintendo was fail!

Google recent "ATOMIC BOMB" is hyper super overrated

Why?

See, 10% drop of market share and the "compassionate" corporation of do-not-evil people is creating hysteria in the hive-mind everywhere.

To be honest, Microsoft does not have to announce anything on Monday, if it was Nintendo launching project Natal, freaks fanboys would be talking about it even today!
