Just a few days ago, a study from research company Dell'Oro revealed that wireless routers based on the draft IEEE 802.11n standard made up a majority of the market.
That was despite 802.11n-based products being more expensive than their 802.11g counterparts.
But sales of 802.11n-based routers are set to accelerate, according to Edimax Australia's Managing Director Greg Jan.
He says that 802.11n chipsets, which provide the wireless technology inside routers, are cheaper than 802.11g chipsets for the first time.
That's great news for consumers: routers, adapters and other technology based on 802.11n wireless technology will soon be cheaper to buy than older and slower 802.11g-based products.
Keep an eye out for new products in the market from Japanese company Buffalo and from Edimax, both of which are expanding their product range in Australia over the coming months.
