AMD's Tigris to run wild at Computex

by Sylvie Barak  on May 19, 2009
AMD'S upcoming notebook platform, Tigris, is ready to roar at Computex 2009, according to reports in the Chinese-language Commercial Times.
The chip firm apparently will show off its new platform for portables with screensizes 14-inch and above at the Taiwanese tech trade fair, June 1st-6th.

Tigris, the apparent successor to Puma, is based on a 45nm dual-core Caspian CPU, an RS880M series of chipsets and either a 55nm or 40nm M9X GPU. The platform will slot in next to AMD's Yukon and Congo, both of which are aimed at the smaller 13-inch and below notebook market.

Commercial Times also reckons AMD will use Computex to divulge details on other emerging platforms it hopes to release in 2010.

These reportedly will be based on 45nm quad-core Champlain processors, paired up with SB8xxM series chipsets and sporting USB 3.0 connectivity, DDR3 memory and the company's next-generation Manhattan-series GPU.
