According to a Torrentfreak story, the auto industry has embraced the taboo that is online filesharing. In what has to be the most unusual marketing gimmick in eons, a major Japanese carmaker is encouraging people to use Bittorrent and other so called 'illegal sites' to scavenge virtual pieces of a Mitsubishi Colt.
The catch? You'll have to troll across the various Bittorrent and EDonkey sites to obtain the mysterious virtual car parts. When you have enough parts to build a complete car - the car is yours!
Mitsubishi will send one lucky winner a fully assembled Colt - and that's for going to the trouble of downloading files for free off the one place where most corporations wouldn't be caught dead.
Unfortunately, it's only for Spanish users - but perhaps that makes sense, considering the hazy file sharing laws in that country.
The world's biggest scavenger hunt starts....now! Although, according to the website, you will need to be able to read Spanish to work out the rules.
