Sting in the price for new ADSL2+ users

by William Maher  on Apr 24, 2009
News that iPrimus will quadruple its ADSL2+ broadband coverage is great news if you've been wanting better broadband speeds, but there's a catch.

Good news if you've been stuck for choice when it comes to ADSL2+ broadband - iPrimus is massively expanding its broadband reach. The ISP is hitching a ride on Telstra's network, reselling Telstra's ADSL2+ in areas its own equipment can't reach, including Western metro Melbourne.

But as our friends at iTnews report, the prospect of more ISPs expanding their coverage by relying more heavily on Telstra's equipment won't necessarily be good news if you're after a good value deal.

iPrimus might be trumpeting $69.95 for 6GB plans as "some of the best value in the market" in the extended zone areas, but it's not a patch on what you'll pay if you're in a suburb that iPrimus has rolled out its own ADSL2+ equipment. Internet in these areas can cost $32.95 a month bundled for 3GB.
