Quickoffice brings Word and Excel to the iPhone

by Phil Muncaster  on Apr 3, 2009
Mobile productivity software vendor Quickoffice today announced a new application which will allow users to edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents on the iPhone..

Quickoffice for iPhone, announced at the CTIA Wireless 2009 show in Los Angeles, provides document and spreadsheet editing, file access and content management functionality for Office users on the go.

Functionality for Word includes font formatting, content selection, bullets and cut, copy and paste, and the option to modify documents in landscape mode.

Users can also transfer files to and from a desktop using Wi-Fi, and remotely access MobileMe iDisk accounts, said Quickoffice. The new application supports Auto-Save and Auto-Restore to ensure data integrity and avoid the possibility of losing work.

"We are dedicated to bringing the most robust, full-featured application to this platform, and will continue to add capabilities and services to meet the needs of our users," said Gregg Fiddes, vice president of sales and strategic partnerships at Quickoffice.

"Quickoffice for iPhone leverages the intuitive iPhone user interface to allow for easy editing, viewing and sharing of Office documents."

Quickoffice for iPhone will be available in early April at an introductory price of $19.99 (£13.60). The firm also plans to launch Quicksheet Excel spreadsheet editor, formerly known as MobileFiles Pro, and Quickword Word document editor, both for $12.99 (£8.85).
