Microsoft hails Apple as just an overpriced logo

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has proclaimed that economic conditions will help shift the tide against pricey Apple products and help consumers to see the error of their ways.

If you've ever walked into your local retailer and wondered what the difference between the latest Dell, HP or Mac desktop is - according to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, there's very little.

In a TechFlash report, Ballmer made his anti-Apple statements at a New York conference, justifying his words by gesturing to the current US recession and predicting that customers were no longer in the mood for paying more for "a logo".

"Paying an extra $US500 for a computer in this environment - same piece of hardware - paying $US500 more to get a logo on it? I think that's a more challenging proposition for the average person than it used to be", Mr Ballmer said.

Well, he's pretty much right isn't he? I've always compared Apple to high-cost fashion labels. Aside from OS X, anyway, and you either like it, hate it, or just don't care. I just don't care -- both Vista and OS X do the same job.
