‘Cupcake’ Android update hitting T-Mobile G1 in April

by Stuff.tv  on Mar 13, 2009
It’s official – the shiny new version of Android will be hitting the G1 next month. Just in time for the HTC Magic
The first major update for Android isn’t far off, according to T-Mobile overseas. The network just confirmed to us that it’s bringing the so-called ‘Cupcake’ update to its G1 Android phone overseas next month, and it’s going to add a ton of new features.

The goodies you can expect include a decent onscreen keyboard, the ability to record video clips, a voice recorder, stereo Bluetooth and the ability to save MMS attachments.

Overseas, Vodafone will be launching the second Android phone, the HTC Magic at around the same time, so it seems likely that T-Mobile is unleashing Cupcake as a way to keep the G1 fresh, up to date and in the headlines. Which has worked out quite nicely.

We'll bring you more about Australian availability as it comes to hand.
