Title of backgrounder
As far as fashion-inspired notebooks go, HP's effort with the Vivienne Tam notebook (HP's calling it a notebook, not a netbook) certainly stands out a mile. The rich red cover, featuring a peony flower design apparently blends Asian and Western cultures, "antiquity and modern style".
Just don't flash it about on the train late at night. You know, muggings and all that.
For those not up on Vivienne Tam's work (including us), she is a Chinese-born fashion designer who is reputedly among the cream of the crop in New York fashion circles, and who recently paraded a new line of dresses which included the "Chinese character for nothingness".
As far as notebooks go, the HP's Vivienne Tam Special Edition is certainly impressive, with its 10.1in LED screen, 1.12kg weight and chassis that's less than an inch thick.
Though for $899, the 60GB hard drive and 3 cell battery aren't exactly market leading features, as compared with say, an ASUS N10J. Still, it's the fashion that's the point here.
