Successor to best–selling 6300 handset comes rammed with full–on smartphone features
The Nokia 6300 Classic has been one of the Finns best–selling blowers, thanks to its sharp design and availability for nowt on pretty much every contract imaginable. Alas, it's time to send it away to the land of retro mobiles, with Nok today unveiling its successor, the super smart 6700 Classic.
It's design is definitely a talking point, thanks to a new curved metal frame. But the real story here is the hefty feature set. We're looking at a 5MP snapper, AGPS, HSDPA, direct access to Facebook and Flickr. All on a phone that's very much mid–range.
Nokia says they've taken inspiration from their high–end, pricey 8800 Arte model, giving the 6700 Classic 'tap command'. This means you can mute the mobile and check out the time with a single swipe.
We are going to have to wait until "Q3" this year to get our hands on one, as it's being "considered" for Australia.
With all those features, it looks like your average mobile phone is set to undergo a huge transformation in 2009 as other big players follow Nokia's newbie.
