Resident Evil 5 coming to Xbox Live next week?

Games franchises don't get much bigger than Resident Evil, and it seems Capcom could be giving Xbox 360 owners an early taste of zombie-blasting action - a two-level demo of Resident Evil 5 could be hitting Xbox Live on 5 December.
The game itself is slated for a March 2009 release on Xbox 360 and PS3, but according to top Japanese games rag Famitsu, a pre-Christmas taster is scheduled for next week.

The mag report mentions only Xbox Live, suggesting PS3 owners may have to wait a bit longer for their ghoul-stomping fix, and confirms only that the demo will be available in Japan - so it could be that US and European 360-ites can't actually access it. Which would be a major wounder, it has to be said.

Still, there aren't many demos that stay exclusive in one part of the world for long, so even if we can't download it on the 5th, it'll most likely be available soon after.

All we know about the demo thus far is that it contains two levels of the game, and that it can be played both in single player offline mode and in co-op over Xbox Live. Roll on next week!
