Apple goes after Vista in new campaign

by Iain Thomson  on Oct 21, 2008

After Microsoft’s huge advertising campaign to support its Vista operating system Apple has gone on the offensive with a new series of adverts slating the move..
The adverts, featuring the same actors behind Apple’s previous “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” campaign are on the Apple web site and the first two are already being broadcast on television.

The first advert mocks Microsoft’s policy of not mentioning Vista in favour of using Windows, with John Hodgman’s PC character buzzing out the word Vista whenever it is used.

The second has Hodgman dividing stacks of money into two piles, one for advertising Vista and a much smaller one for fixing Vista’s problems.

Microsoft began a $300 million advertising campaign featuring New York comic Jerry Seinfeld but the first two adverts were unpopular and the series was dropped.

Is it just me, or does Apple's continuing of this tiresome campaign annoy the hell out of you??
Personally (and one would think I must be the ONLY one in this category!?) I had/have no problems with Vista since I bought a system in March this year...
That's my two cents worth

I agree, but it's the only way Apple can attract people. They always pull the bait-and-attack trick. And shame on MS for making such a shit set of advertisements. Sometimes I wish I could take over...

I used to think that too Nat, but there are many stupid people out there who take anything they read/see as gospel. We're into I.T. so it seems common sense, but others just want external reassurance, even if it's completely incorrect.

It's all about product placement. The good guys always use apple branded stuff. The cool dude is walking down the street with his ipod and nike boots...
Nobody watches the crap that's on during the add breaks more than once unless it's really funny or their really dumb=p~ =d>

Which brings me to my next point...

The average IQ is, I'm told 100. That would mean half the population of the world has an IQ of less than 100. It'll probably sound like I'm being an intellectual snob here, you know, being a tradie and all... But an IQ of 100 isn't too bright.

Oh, and cyb3r?
There's nothing common about sense.

EDIT: typo. had one (make that 2) of my dumb moments.
