New TomTom GPS models claim to predict your trip with 'eerie' accuracy - filling us with a mixture of wonder and fear.
Bigger and smarter – that’s the general theme with the new TomTom units announced today.

the new units are so accurate says TomTom, that lengthy trips are now ‘creepily’ accurate, right down to the minute.

This, as Tom Tom will claim, is all down to Tom Tom putting extra effort into their routing engine, which calculates the results of each trip.

Big screens, voice recording

Tom Tom are banking on the GPS doing more than just mapping instructions. Users can now personalise their devices, including the ability to record your own driving instructions.

Drivers can also exchange their geograpahical positions via SMS and Bluetooth. Also, gone are the tiny screens of old; it’s 4.3 inches of voice-enabled widescreen pleasure now, whilst a built-in FM transmitter will also give you a chance to listen to favourite tunes over your car stereo.

Sophisticated safety features
A map feature known as ‘Advanced Lane Guidance’ promises to assist drivers, so they don't miss a turn at lane intersections.

TomTom Map Share arrives

TomTom Map Share technology is finally here in Australia, after proving to be a huge hit overseas. It works by utilising updates from TomTom users via the internet, resulting in hundreds of thousands of regular map updates, which solves the problem of maps quickly going out of date. TomTom also guarantee that each GPS purchased always comes with the latest map released.
