A bundled broadband deal by the VOIP company sounds interesting to us. Will the VOIP specialist be able to challenge the prices of iiNet and Internode?
We must have missed this when it was announced, but MyNetFone today again confirmed plans to launch consumer VOIP and broadband.
My Net Fone aims to have consumer voice and broadband deals ready by April next year, following the previous announcement of business voice and data plans in February this year.
In an announcement dated July 15, the company slipped in a referred to plans to bring out naked dsl bundled with VOIP.
MyNetFone says it will use Optus wholesale to provide broadband services.
Why care? While iiNet and Internode have been pushing VOIP with their Naked DSL plans, MyNetFone claims to have the edge when it comes to pricing.
As an example, MyNetFone charges 12.5 cents for untimed local and national calls. That compares with 15 cents for iiNet’s standalone VOIP, and 18 cents at Internode.
International calls start at 1.9cents with MyNetFone, versus 5 cents with iiNet standalone VOIP, and mostly from 5 cents with Internode.
Mobile pricing sees 27 cents per minute at iiNet, vs 29 cents at iiNet and 30 cents per minute at Internode. MyNetFone is cheaper, though it’s not exactly a huge difference.
Mind you, sign up for one of iiNet’s Naked Home 1 plans, and you get free local and national calls. And it will be interesting to see if MyNetFone can bring across the same value on its current VOIP plans to combined voice and broadband deals.
Either way it looks like VOIP pricing is about to get interesting.
