The lure of free PS3s is proving too strong for thousands of HD TV buyers signing up to claim a games console from Sony, despite complaints about long delays.
Despite earlier reports that some Sony Bravia buyers were waiting "months" to receive their free PS3, a new round of giveaways is drawing huge numbers.

According to online reports, some customers claimed to have waited "months" to receive a free PS3 in an earlier Sony giveaway in December and January.

Nevertheless the latest online counterat the Sony site lists approximately 19,000 bonus PS3s left, indicating 16,000 of the game consoles have been claimed by participants in the 17 days since the latest giveaway began. Sony is giving away a bonus PS3 with the sale of every full HD Bravia LCD TV sold during their promotion period for July 1st to July 31st.

The promotion extends to the new BRAVIA LCD range, which includes the XBR Series, X3100 Series, W4000 Series, V4000 Series and W3100 Series. New features available within the range include a second generation BRAVIA Engine and an Intelligent Picture and MPEG Noise Reduction control.

We've already raved about the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player (see our Blu-Ray Buyer's Guide here).

Well if people won't pay for the PS3 Sony can always give them away. It's another way to ramp up the PS3 sales figures againsts XBOX360 and Wii

It makes sense, since a PS3 is designed for the HD TVs.

I reckon we had better understand that this method of boosting sales is almost admitting that their TV's are over priced.
How about a real price cut on both products, and see how the consumers react..
Wow we cant get enough would be the answer.

I think Sony made a good decision here. Not only will this help get more people playing their console and using online servicesm it will also take the hastle out when it comes to normal people choosing a BluRay player. Now if only i had the coin for one...

I don't see why you guys think its a way of them ramping out the PS3 sales. In a way promotions like these are what nailed the HD DVD into a coffin so tight it couldn't get out. Sony stands to benefit from winning Blue Ray in more ways then one. Promotions like these will only help their bottom line in the long run. Think flow on effect with other products and things you will add to the PS3 and Bravia televisions. Sales all round for Sony
