"Finally it comes and wonder why australia is the very last country to touch iPhone. i tried my friend one. he bought it from America. it was so cool nice function and nice design love it."

Optus is hoping to draw the faithful to an iPhone street celebration when they host a midnight in-store countdown to iPhone 3G sales on Thursday night. What, you're not planning on camping out?
For those plucky enough to brave icy chills to be first in the office with iPhone bragging rights, Optus will open their Sydney George street store at midnight on Thursday. Only those who have put down a deposit can reportedly pickup the phone on Thursday night, everyone else has to wait till the next day.

Even if you haven't put down a deposit, you can come and celebrate on George Street, with Optus promising supplies of free coffee and snacks. The location is 280 George Street, corner of George and Hunter street.

I wouldn't wait outside for an overpriced toy, that's for sure. Fair enough if they were cheaper...

I guess if I line up now and queue for the midnight count down, I probably be able to get my $100 back plus a further discount on the overly priced phone!

After having seen the prices from Telstra and Optus, I hope Vodafone can listen to customer's disgust and hopefully release a better priced plans for the overpriced mobile phone. After all, they are the largest mobile carrier in the world.

well you can always unlock the phone. Bear in mind the iphone on prepaid + the $80 unlock fee is comparable to all the other smart phones (HTC Touch anyone)out there. So really if you guys were really not happy with the plans on offer for Telstra and Optus you can always jump to Voda or even Three with a unlocked phone. I can't see the plans being that much better.

If you look at the three packages you need to pay an extra $50 for around 1 GB of data in addition to your cap for calls and other necessities.

My friend uses a blackberry currently for work and he says his data usage is around $50 + calls. I think all up people who want functional email with the 3G iphone should be looking to spend $100 a month including calls.

I completely do not mind the $89 cap plan by optus btw
