No movies yet, but TV shows arrive at iTunes Australia

The dam has burst on the long awaited arrival of video downloads for iTunes users in Australia - though none of the blockbuster movies available in the US. Check out what's on offer.
The TV shows include a wide variety, including local programming such as Summer Heights High, McLeod's Daughter's, Sea Patrol, as well as overseas shows such as Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, Lost and South Park. Prices start at $2.99 per episode.

Apple claims shows will be available "as early as" one day after they air - past episodes will also be available.

The video is available at 640x480, which won't exactly excite HD aficionados, but Apple claims is four times better than previously available.

Hopefully this is just the first step towards the array of movies and videos available to iTunes Store users in the US, which offers standard definition movie rental for US$2.99 (US$3.99 for new release), which gives you 30 days to watch.

Major Hollywood studios represented on the site include 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, Paramount, and Touchstone Pictures.
