Graphics and video pros with a first-gen Mac Pro sitting on their desks will be happy to see the arrival of a well-specced and reasonably-priced PCI video card hitting the market.

The ATI Radeon HD 3870 for Mac & PC Edition, to give it its full moniker, has been optimised exclusively for Apple Mac Pro systems and has built-in 256-bit 512MB GDDR4 frame buffer memory and 320 stream processors for graphics and gaming gorgeousness.

It has twin dual-link DVI ports capable of driving two 30-inch HD monitors and a power management system which dynamically adjusts clocks and voltages to keep the noise and heat down when the card's not working at full tilt.

The US price is pegged at $219 so you can hopefully expect to see it for under $250 when it arrives, hopefully not too long after the end-of-June release date.
