The big camera maker steps up its efforts to lure compact camera users to the world of DSLR photography.
The 1000D will join Canon's E450D at the budget end of the DSLR market, and comes with a variety of features designed to appeal to point and shoot photographers.
There's no word on the all-important price yet, but some of the major features include:
- 10.1 Megapixel
- SD card
- Live View, for previewing images on-screen
- 3.0 fps
- 450grams
At 450grams, the 1000D is lighter than Sony's A200 and A250, though still heavier than the ultra-light Olympus E-420, which claims to be the thinnest and smallest DSLR on the market and weighs 380grams.
