LG rewrites Blu-Ray scene

At almost $500 for the burner, Blu-Ray is a little closer to finally making sense as backup for your hard drives. Pity the discs are so expensive.
The new LG BE06 is the world’s fastest Blu-ray Disc Rewriter, an external unit capable of 6x write.

The drive is currently available for $549, and can be USB 2.0 powered (with power cable), which is great news for people wanting to back up their movies and music to the high capacity discs, which can hold as much as 50GB of data per disc.

The unit looks the part, with it's eye catching bezel and blue light beam at the core of the design.

Hopefully prices for discs will come down - they're currently listed at up to $54.88 online.
