A full day's battery life? A shock proof casting made from rugged magnesium? Zepto's 12.1 inch portable looks like making our drool-worthy notebook list.
European based Zepto have just announced the release of their shock proof 12.1 inch ‘Notus’ and they're making some big claims - not least the promise of a full day's battery life.
By integrating Intel's McCaslin processor, the 12 inch Notus are boasting a reduction of more than 50% less power consumption than similar notebooks on the market. As a result, Zepto are claimng an incredible battery life of 9 hours, something that may raise eyebrows with battery life kings Toshiba and Sony.
The Notus will withstand drops of up to 1 meter and is resistant to most spills. The Notus also comes with the wireless N standard for lighting fast network transfers speeds (300Mbit) and Bluetooth 2.0. It's going to seriously challenge for the market's most portable, rugged business notebook.
Given that the Notus is around a mere 1Kg and will start at $2,000 when it is released on April 30th. At that price, it’s a challenging some of the bigger and far more pricier units in the sub 12-inch market, who regularly try to sell these kinds of rugged state notebooks for over $3000.
The recently announced HP mini-note and the much improved Eee PC 900 are sure to be strong contenders, with 9 inch screens, similar weight, and paired with solid state drives. However, the Eee PC is still consigned by its impractically small keyboard, so here’s hoping that 12-inches is the magical number, especially for Zepto.
