The ISPs we love, and the ones we don’t

Dodo cops another warning, but not all Internet providers are in the bad books for customer support.

If you’re considering switching ISPs then this week’s news that Dodo has copped a “direction” to comply with complaints handling codes might have made you think twice. Authorities say Dodo has made significant progress, but still “has a way to go” before it is fully compliant with industry codes.

Customer support is the big grey area when you’re shopping for an Internet plan, and sometimes the last thing on your mind if you're after a cheap deal. Unless you visit sites like Whirlpool to see what others are saying, you can end up with a dud.

There were a number of poor performers in PC Authority’s Reliability and Service Awards, which we published late last year and received 14,000 respondents. In addition to Dodo, others that received low customer satisfaction ratings were Xtra Internet (43% of users with its Customer Support) and People Telecom.

So which ISPs are getting good reviews from customers? Westnet blitzed our results with a 95% satisfaction rating for customer support, followed by Internode with 85% and Adam Internet, iiNet and AAPT.
