Number of active buyers on eBay is sliding - we’re looking for your experiences, good and bad.
For some reason, growth in the number of “active buyers” on eBay is falling; the number of active buyers increased 14% in 2006, but just 2% in 2007 - suggesting that eBay buyers are buying once or twice and then leaving.
It’s part of a worrying trend for the auction site - since 2004, growth at eBay has slowed with 4% growth in income in 2006, compared to 76% in 2004. Now eBay is in the midst of a campaign to turn around the slowdown, including an overall shift in its focus from sellers to buyers.
The eBay reputation system has been given its biggest shake-up in some time, with sellers no longer able to provide feedback on buyers. The changes mean that from now on, buyers can provide feedback to sellers after a purchase, but sellers can’t provide feedback on buyers – if they have a complaint, they’ll need to go through eBay’s standard complaint channels.
PC Authority would like to hear about your experiences with eBay, both positive and negative.
