"Dude, shut up."

The PC maker will launch its first desktop in Australia capable of playing both formats.
Looking for a dual format PC that can play both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD?

Last week we covered the amazing value Medion MD 8828, with it’s dual format LG drive. Now it turns out HP is also jumping on the dual format bandwagon with the Pavilion Elite PC m9190.

The new desktop will be first in Australia from HP with both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, and will go on sale at the end of January. Not only is it a first for HP, they’ve also beaten Dell, which told us they don’t offer a PC that plays Blu-Ray and HD-DVD in Australia right now.

UPDATED: It seems Acer is well ahead of HP and Medion. It launched a Blu-Ray / HD-DVD PC in October last year. The Aspire M5630 series gives you dual format drive for $1,999, with the Core 2 Duo E4500 option.

At $3,499 HP's m9190 is pricey, though you do get the dual format drive, 22inch LCD, quad core CPU, 3GB RAM, and 1TB HDD.

Here is the official spec list, priced at $3,499 (including monitor):
- 22” Wide TFT LCD
- Intel QUAD CORE Q6700 Processor 2.66Ghz
- 3GB RAM
- 1TB HDD
