Once Upon the Time in the West (1968)

This earlier bookend to Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America has been rightly hailed as one of the greatest westerns of all time. In one of the first instances of effective stun-casting, Henry Fonda plays against type as the villainous gun-for-hire Frank. The film also stars Charles Bronson as the Man With No Name (the same character that catapulted Clint Eastwood to stardom). With a 168 minute running-time, the film is epic in every sense.
