Finally, re-assemble the heatsink and apply a small amount of thermal paste to the GPU core. Gently press the two pieces together so that the thermal paste spreads out evenly; only use enough to create a thin, even layer as seen here. Once you're satisfied with the thermal paste, sandwich the card back together and fire up a benchmark to test stability - if it overheats, pull it apart and double-check the paste, and that you've plugged the fan connector back in.
