It's in thickness and weight where the real differences stick out. The original Xoom (still on the left) was 249.1x167.8mm, but 12.9mm thick and weighed in at 730g for the 3G model. The Xoom 2 is actually slightly larger on the face (253.9 x 173.6mm) but only 8.8mm thick and only 599g.
